Oktoberfest
Munich is the place to visit if you love beer. This event is a one off. The most famous beer festival in the world. Copied around the world but
the best is the original in Munchen.
The beer lovers head to Southern Germany to party and to enjoy the buzz of this world famous event. I have been twice and would love to return in the near future.

The event started in 1810 and at that time it took place during one week of October, but along the years it was extended and the starting date was changed to September because the weather is warmer and more pleasing, therefore it’s easier to attract more visitors to stay even longer and enjoy the beer (and festival) throughout the night. Now lasts 16-days.
More than 6 million people from around the world attend. Locally, it is simply called Wiesn, named after the name of the fairgrounds.
Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the original Munich event.Glad to say Edinburgh have their own Bavarian weekend.Hopefully get tickets for 2022 event.
Only beer brewed within the Munich area are on sale. The whole festival was originally formed to honour the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
The traditional Wiesn tapping is planned for Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 12 noon. Then Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter is to open the world's largest beer festival again with the traditional "O'zapft is!". Other traditional events around the Wiesn are also on the program again: the parade of the Wiesnwirte onto the festival grounds, the large procession of traditional costumes and marksmen on the first Sunday of the Oktoberfest, the stand-up concert under the Bavaria or the firecracker shooting. It`s going to be some event.
To secure a place in the tent, you have to book a table online. For most tents, reservations are not possible until spring 2023.Link to office below. → All central reservation offices for the tents can be found here.
On October 12th 1810 the festivities began and they ended on October 17th with a horse race.

In Cologne, bars serve a traditional beer called kolsch, which can only be produced in the 2,000-year-old city and its surrounding area, enjoying a similar protected status to that of champagne in France.
Kolsch is only served in thin cylindrical glasses known as a stange, or “poles”, because the beer would go stale in a bigger glass. It is often served on a circular tray known as a kranz which holds between eight to ten glasses.
