Berwick upon Tweed June 2024
Another great time in the toon just over the border. As always we stayed at our favourite Caravan site.
Gee Bee was with us this time. He kindly drove us down. Lunch was taken in Peebles. Nice town in the Scottish Borders. We picked The Crown hotel. Food was good. At four we arrived at our Caravan. Nice and not too far from Cliff side path.

Peebles
Monday night great dinner at the Limoncello. Italian restaurant on Hide hill in Berwick town centre.
With a few drinks in Atelier on Bridge Street. Couple of German beers went down well.

Tuesday.
We started our holiday by walking from the camp site to the famous Lighthouse. Sadly we never made it due to a rainstorm. We were soaked to the skin. We sadly had to take shelter in the Leaping Salmon bar. Where we enjoyed Lunch.
At night we enjoyed dinner at the Golf Club and walked round to the Pilot bar. Where the locals made us most welcome.

Wednesday
Today we took a short drive to the fishing port of Eyemouth. Eight miles north of Berwick-upon-Tweed. The town's name comes from being at the mouth of the river Eye. We enjoyed lunch at the Contented Sole bar. After that we walked along the dock side. Where a seal popped its head up out of the water. Eyemouth is well worth a short visit. Next place we visited was St Abbs.Steep road down to the harbour.

Dinner at night was in Coulls restaurant on Castlegate. Great Fish and Chips. After that we headed back to the club for a quick beer.
Then I wandered back to the Caravan. Seems easy enough task you would think. Sadly I got lost and spent 30 minutes wandering about in the dark searching for number 53 Alnwick Close. Quite embarrassing for someone who loves to explore foreign lands.

Thursday
We finally got our walk along the pier to the Lighthouse. Sun was out but no sign of the local pod of Dolphins. Just a couple of seals.
Dinner was at the Leaping Salmon bar.
We ended the night with a visit to Kings head. Really nice bar with friendly owners. Spent a couple hours talking about cruises.

Friday Homeward bound
After a special breakfast at the Golf course, we headed home.
We aimed to stop at Melrose but parking was impossible, so we stopped in Galashields.
